Children’s Christmas Tree Fund Receives Donation
NATCHEZ, Miss. –December 20, 2018 –Merit Health Natchez recently made a donation of $1,000.00 to The Children’s Christmas Tree Fund in honor of the hospital’s Medical Staff.
“This is a tradition started several years ago as a way of recognizing our physicians during the holiday season and helping those in our community who need it most during this time of the year,” said Lance Boyd, CEO of Merit Health Natchez.
Natchez is full of traditions, and The Children’s Christmas Tree Fund, started in the early 1900s by the publisher of The Natchez Democrat, James Lambert, is an example of one of the most giving traditions. The fund has helped thousands of children through the years have a Merry Christmas, as each year on Christmas Eve, hundreds of presents are distributed to children at the Braden Building.
One of Mr. Lambert’s descendents and long time volunteer for the Fund, Johnny Junkin, is grateful for the donation, “Our community is extremely generous and supportive of this long time tradition, and to have the support of the hospital through the years has truly been a blessing. We are blessed with wonderful physicians in our area, and to make a donation in their honor to help children who otherwise wouldn’t have many presents is a great win for all.”
“We at Merit Health Natchez applaud the efforts of Mr. Junkin and all the volunteers who work tirelessly to make Christmas special for children in our area. This donation is our way of saying thank you to our Medical Staff for the care they give their patients throughout the year, and at the same time, we are giving back to the community,” concluded Boyd.
