Scott Turgeon Receives Merit Health Biloxi Nursing Excellence Award

Merit Health Biloxi today announced that Scott Turgeon, RN has been selected to receive its Nursing Excellence Award.

This peer-nominated award, given in recognition of the critical role nurses play in treating our patients, was open to qualifying RNs and LPNs working in a direct patient care position who consistently demonstrate characteristics synonymous with nursing excellence.

Scott was chosen for his outstanding contributions in the areas of patient experience and being a dedicated team player.

“Merit Health Biloxi is blessed to have many outstanding nurses like Scott who work here,” said Rachael Williams, chief nursing officer. “Nurses who deliver exemplary care, compassion and service, who can lead in times of crises, and who are true champions of promoting healthcare in our community. With an ongoing focus this year on the selfless efforts of healthcare professionals like Scott, we are pleased to acknowledge the important contributions of our nursing professionals.”

Scott Turgeon joined Merit Health Biloxi in July of 2019 and in that time has demonstrated exemplary care by consistently engaging with his patients, providing compassionate care, and tackling each challenge by going above and beyond to find the right solution. He collaborates with his teammates to do what is right for the patient, family, and/or staff member. Scott has a “can do” attitude and continues to display integrity, a positive attitude, and a willingness to help his team members. He is dedicated to ensuring a high quality of care for the patients at Merit Health BIloxi.

In addition to receiving the Nursing Excellence Award itself, Scott received a cash prize and a copy of “Shining the Light on All the Right” by Mark and Bonnie Barnes, co-founders of The DAISY Foundation, an international movement created to recognize and express gratitude for extraordinary nursing.
