Heart Care
Heart health is about more than just your heart. Blood pressure, cholesterol, family history and other factors all play important roles in keeping your heart strong. If you have questions about your heart health but aren’t quite sure where to begin, Merit Health now has two screening tools to help identify your risk for heart disease.
Called My Merit Heart Screen, this cardiovascular heart screening includes:
- Calcium score (heart CT scan) read by a radiologist
- Blood pressure evaluation
- Body composition: Body mass index (BMI)
- Lipid panel: total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides and glucose (blood sugar)
- Electrocardiogram (ECG, formerly EKG)
- Peripheral artery disease screening
- Same-day results
After the screening, you will receive a personalized health report and test results. A nurse will review results one-on-one with you, offering risk factor education and appropriate recommendation(s).
Screenings are available by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling (601) 936-2394, then choose option 4.
For those who prefer an online version, Merit Health Heart also offers a free five-minute heart risk assessment which will calculate your heart age and offer advice on how to maintain or improve your heart health.
